We had decided to travel to Manchester airport by train so Catherine dropped us at Meadowhall interchange and we made our way to the platform. We were expecting the train to Manchester to be fairly quiet. How wrong we were. The train was full of Oasis fans heading to Manchester for the concert.
Luckily we had reserved seats. The journey to Manchester was very pleasant
through the Peak District and, on arrival, we only had to walk across the
platform to get the train to Manchester airport.
When we arrived at the airport it was quite a walk to the Easy Jet check-in
and, of course, the travellators weren't working.
Self check-in was fairly painless. We did feel that terminal 1 was looking
rather tired. After a couple of hours we were on our way. The flight was
exactly 1 hour long. After landing we caught the hotel shuttle bus and
were met by Mike and Marion outside reception.
After getting to our room and freshening up we had a complimentary drink in the
bar and then it was bed.
