Today was Hanny and Frank's post-Rieu party so we had a morning outing to the pretty little town of Valkenburg with its numerous outdoor cafes, shops and great photo opportunities. After lunch in one of the cafes we returned to the house to get ready for the party.
A wonderful surprise greeted us when we arrived at the party as Hanny and Frank opened the door in full fancy dress with Frank playing his violin!Hanny loves to make cocktails so we started with a special André Rieu cocktail of prosecco, vodka and curacao served in a glass decorated with a mini violin and a picture of André. This was accompanied by a delicious portion of Rijstevlaai (rice pie) with cream. Hanny then made Elizabeth a pina colada whilst Graeme had another André Rieu. Whilst we ate and chatted with the other guests, we were given a plentiful supply of delicious nibbles.
We were then served Zoervleis and fries - a very tasty regional meat dish.
Unfortunately it then started to drizzle a bit so we moved inside. Hanny made another of her delicious cocktails - an espresso martini. This consisted of vodka? and Baileys which suited us very well indeed!
After a burst of the Macarena, it was time to go home after a wonderful evening. We are very grateful to Hanny, Frank and Trudy for helping to make our time in Belgium and the Netherlands so memorable.
